Jeakins Weir has been involved in main contracting since 1973, and has built up an excellent reputation for building new schools, factories, houses, offices and hospitals.

We understand our client’s needs and work closely with the design team in order to provide our clients with the desired product, within budget and on programme. We also share best practice across market sectors and invest in new techniques and processes.

Our empa framework enables us to offer public sector customers the chance to collaborate with the supply chain and to ensure their building projects save time and money, whilst at the same time ensuring that they are provided with a quality product that meets their specific requirements.

Jeakins Weir is also involved in refurbishment works and has successfully developed these operations into Partnerships with Social Housing Landlords in order to meet their planned maintenance requirements.

Our general contracting arm also carries out Design and Build works. We carry Professional Indemnity insurance and enjoy excellent relationships with local design consultants. Together we form an experienced and close team and deliver our clients’ requirements to the highest standards.

Jeakins Weir has an acknowledged pedigree constructing eco-friendly buildings. In 2009 we completed the first carbon-neutral public building in Northamptonshire. This featured a ground source heat pump, grey water collectors (for toilets etc.), an all timber structure with super insulation, air to air heat pumps, solar collectors, green roofs, passive solar design and high thermal performance.

Jeakins Weir currently has construction projects throughout the East Midlands.

Jeakins Weir has successfully developed its refurbishment operations for the public sector.

This includes the refurbishment of occupied public buildings (including schools, libraries, leisure centres, crematoriums and local authority offices) as well as carrying out planned maintenance refurbishment of Registered Social Landlords housing stock.

We are aware of the specific requirements of carrying out refurbishment works in occupied buildings/campuses or homes. We understand the importance of liaising with the end-users and to develop a close working relationship with them. We ensure that our operations are completed with the minimum disruption and always with the utmost consideration to the end-users needs.

Scape empa

Jeakins Weir recently won a share of the £100m Scape/empa intermediate framework, covering contracts in the East Midlands.

Scape dramatically improves the procurement and delivery of construction projects and property maintenance for public sector clients, saving both time and money. With a strong commitment to local supply chains, we are able to ensure that our clients’ specific requirements are delivered by local specialists who employ and train local people.

This four-year regional framework arrangement for the East Midlands Property Alliance (empa) is managed by Scape and covers projects valued between £50,000 and £2 million. The range of buildings is vast and includes residential buildings (houses, care homes, student accommodation); educational buildings – schools, colleges, and universities; blue light facilities; health facilities; leisure centres, plus other public buildings (libraries, depots, offices, etc.).

Jeakins Weir’s empa framework contract covers the southern area of the region, including Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, Rutland – and Warwickshire, Coventry, Solihull and Peterborough.

empa also has a training academy for apprentices who have a passion for construction, offering them on-the-job training and experience. In the last three years over 50 new apprenticeships have been created in the East Midlands by empa framework contractors, including Jeakins Weir. Further details are provided on the empa website.

Jeakins Weir has been Scape’s partner since 2009, and during this time all projects have been delivered on time, within budget and to our clients’ complete satisfaction.
