Jeakins Weir and Harborough District Council recognised National Apprenticeship Week in March by giving valuable career advice to a bricklaying apprentice working on one of their sites.
17-year old Gareth Lewis-Parker is undertaking a bricklaying apprenticeship at Moulton College in Higham Ferrers via Gladstone Construction Civil engineering. Gladstone Construction is a long-time subcontractor to Jeakins Weir. Gareth has completed six months of a two year NVQ2 bricklaying course.

Gareth is one of the team helping to convert disused garages in Great Glen belonging to Harborough District Council into four, two-bed semi-detached houses.
Jeakins Weir’s site manager in Great Glen, Tom Coady, (above right) is a former apprentice bricklayer and also studied at Moulton College. Tom was able to talk to Gareth about making the most of his apprenticeship and a career in site management.
