Air ambulance profits from race night

Jeakins Weir has supported an evening of horse racing to raise vital funds for the Warwickshire and Northants Air Ambulance (WNAA). The event at Irchester Sports Club near Wellingborough raised £3,590. Jeakins Weir sponsored the event by paying for the horse racing and betting equipment and fees.

Jeakins Weir Site Manager Mark Elliott explains: “ The evening was held in memory of Janet Smith who sadly passed away recently. Janet had spent the past 10 years raising money for WNAA. My sister Tina Tebbes had become close friends with Janet, and both of them were always thinking of ideas to raise awareness and money for WNAA.”

WNAA operates from Coventry Airport and attends 1,000 incidents per year. The helicopter provides the best possible pre-hospital care and rapid transport to specialist hospitals, to those suffering serious injury and illness. WNAA receive no Government funding, relying solely on donations.

James Banaszak, Ashley Mann and Mark Elliott from Jeakins Weir won the final horse race of the evening and kindly donated their winnings to WNAA thereby increasing the total of funds raised.

A Jeakins Weir organised bowling evening in March raised £2,000 for WNAA.
